US publisher Firecrown acquires AIM’s marine portfolio
Firecrown, a US-based publisher, has acquired Active Interest Media (AIM)’s Marine Group, expanding Firecrown’s marine portfolio.
AIM is a leading enthusiast media company producing magazines alongside consumer and trade events, websites, podcasts, and TV shows. The company operates under five divisions – Collectibles, Home Arts, Home Building, Marine, and Writer’s Digest – with brands including ‘Power & Motoryacht’, ‘Yachts International’ and ‘Sail’ in its marine portfolio.
Andy Clurman, CEO of Active Interest Media, said:
“Firecrown has built an incredible platform in the aviation and marine categories. As we further align our portfolio around home building and home arts, Craig Fuller is a fantastic new owner to take our marine assets to the next level.”
Firecrown, from its HQ in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was previously known as Flying Media Group and operates a ‘content-to-commerce’ model for enthusiasts in sectors such as marine, aviation, railroads and modelling, and space. This acquisition increases Firecrown’s offering to 21 titles covering yachting, boating, fishing and sailing, including ‘Soundings’, ‘Wakeboarding’, ‘Passagemaker’ and ‘Cruising World’.
Craig Fuller, Founder and CEO of Firecrown, commented:
“We are excited to bring these leading marine media brands onto the Firecrown platform. This will allow us to offer advertisers greater distribution and our audience more differentiated content. Our goal is to invest significantly in the next generation of these brands.”
Firecrown says it plans to retain AIM’s editorial, sales and publishing staff, aiming to “leverage synergies for growth” in digital, video and events.
