Rothen Group acquires Fazeley Mill Marina from ABC Leisure Group
The Rothen Group has acquired Fazeley Mill Marina, near Tamworth in the UK.
Civil engineering and waterways contractor specialist The Rothen Group, based in Warwickshire, has purchased the 2.2-acre marina from ABC Leisure Group, which operates numerous inland waterway marinas across the UK. The firm announced plans to invest in the marina’s infrastructure, focusing on upgrading and replacing the mooring facilities.
The Rothen Group provides services such as piling, dredging, lock and marina maintenance, as well as waterway restoration. It also offers a work boat rental service supplying an array of large and small work boats for narrow beam and wide beam waterways.
Its range of boats include pontoons, pusher and powered tugs, hoppers, crane boats to commercial workboats and punts/flat boats that can be used in a variety of applications.
This acquisition by The Rothen Group marks a significant expansion in its waterways operations, enhancing its capacity to service and maintain the UK’s canal network.
Ian Rothen, Managing Director of The Rothen Group, said:
“Fazeley Mill Marina marks a significant new chapter for The Rothen Group. It is already a popular spot for mooring, given its central location and local amenities, and we are excited to start work on bringing improved facilities to its users.
“As a company, we are very passionate about protecting the UK’s historic canals and waterways. We will therefore be using the marina as a new strategic base to enhance our operations, bringing us closer to Birmingham and hundreds of miles of critical canals.”
Fazeley Mill Marina, located at the junction of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal and Coventry Canal, is currently used for moorings. Birmingham has 35 miles of canals, which were historically used to transport coals, iron and other heavy goods during the Industrial Revolution.
Carl Onens, Managing Director of ABC Leisure Group, commented:
“We are pleased to have completed the sale of Fazeley Mill Marina to The Rothen Group.
“As part of our strategy to focus on inland waterway marinas for holiday lettings, we believe The Rothen Group’s plans for Fazeley align with the best interests of both the marina and the wider UK waterways network.”
